Healthcare professionals, engineers, researchers, designers, students and entrepreneurs are invited to join The Safe MedTech Challenge, a hackathon held as part of BEHEALTH 2026. The registration deadline is 11 October 2026 at 23:59. BEHEALTH 2026 takes place on 19-22 October in a hybrid format, in Bucharest and online.
Organised under the NoBoCap project, the hackathon brings multidisciplinary teams together to turn real healthcare challenges into MedTech solutions that are safe, clinically useful and ready for validation. With support from mentors, participants will progress from defining the problem and understanding user needs to developing a prototype and presenting their solution to a jury.
Patient safety is at the heart of the challenge. Teams are encouraged to consider risks, data protection, clinical workflow fit, usability and the evidence needed to validate their solutions. The focus is not only on the potential of an idea, but also on how it could be implemented responsibly.
Participants can register as a team or individually. Those joining on their own may be matched with people who bring complementary skills during the event. At the end of the hackathon, teams will pitch their solutions. Prizes for the top three teams include mentoring and consulting packages and one year of ROHEALTH membership.
Registration closes on 11 October 2026 at 23:59. Challenge details and registration are available on the official Safe MedTech Challenge page.
